Tisane vs Tea: A tisane refers to a herbal infusion made from flowers, leaves, roots, seeds, or fruits, and is naturally caffeine-free. Tea, in the traditional sense, refers specifically to preparations made from the leaves of the tea plant, Camellia sinensis. This includes white, green, oolong, black teas and everything in between, all of which naturally contain caffeine in varying amounts.

Dry brush before you shower. Brush in sweeping circular motions - feet up, legs up, hands in, neck down, back, and torso all the way towards the heart. Rinse your skin in the shower, dry, and lather up with your favourite natural oil or cream. 

Wash your brush once per week in warm soapy water and sun dry.

Not all extra virgin olive oils are created equal.

Polyphenols are naturally occurring plant compounds that give fresh olive oil its vibrant green flavour, pleasant bitterness and characteristic peppery finish at the back of the throat. They are also the compounds that have attracted the greatest scientific interest for their antioxidant properties. Early-harvest olive oils, such as this Coratina variety, naturally contain much higher levels of polyphenols than many supermarket olive oils.

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has approved the health claim that "olive oil polyphenols contribute to the protection of blood lipids from oxidative stress." To qualify, an olive oil must provide at least 5 mg of hydroxytyrosol and its related compounds per 20 g of olive oil (approximately 1½ tablespoons). That's why independent laboratory testing matters as it provides confidence in the quality and polyphenol content of the oil you're buying, rather than relying on marketing claims alone.

This early-harvest, cold-extracted Coratina extra virgin olive oil has been independently tested and contains 936 mg/kg total polyphenols, together with an exceptionally low acidity (0.21%) and low peroxide value (2.0 meq O₂/kg), indicators of freshness and careful production. Expect a beautifully vibrant olive oil with fresh grassy notes, a pleasant bitterness and a peppery finish, a hallmark of an oil naturally rich in polyphenols.

How to Prepare Matcha — The Traditional Way

You’ll Need:

• Organic Matcha Powder by Apotheca

• Bamboo Whisk (Chasen)

• Matcha Bowl

• Bamboo Scoop (Chashaku)

• Stainless Steel Strainer

• Hot Water (80°C / 176°F — just below boiling)

Step 1 — Sift the Matcha
Place 1 bamboo scoop of Organic Matcha Powder into your strainer over the matcha bowl.
Sifting removes clumps, ensuring a smooth, frothy texture.

Step 2 — Add Hot Water
Pour in 2 tablespoons of hot water to form a light paste. Gradually add about ½ cup of water in total.

Step 3 — Whisk
Hold the whisk lightly and move it briskly in an “M” or “W” motion.
Whisk until a light, velvety layer of foam appears.

Step 4 — Sip & Savour
Enjoy directly from the bowl or pour into a cup. Matcha may be enjoyed pure or with milk for a latte.

Tip:
After use, rinse your bamboo whisk gently under warm water and allow it to air dry upright to maintain its natural shape.

Genmaicha is a blend of Sencha green tea and roasted brown rice, traditionally enjoyed as an everyday tea in Japan. It has a comforting, savoury character with nutty, popcorn-like notes balanced by the freshness of green tea. Its origins trace back to Japan’s Edo period, between the 17th and 19th centuries. During times of economic hardship, rice was precious and green tea could be expensive. Adding roasted rice extended the tea supply, making it more accessible to households of modest means.
